our philosophy

Madeleine’s West Sussex studio reflects her personality…a huge desk full of fabric swatches and clippings from magazines and with half dressed mannequins surrounding an overflowing antique filing cabinet.

Fashion repeats and reinvents itself, but throughout the passage of time there are always clever key shapes and details which reappear.

Inspired hugely by the cloth she finds in vintage shops, its colours and textures, little Miss Hoarder dreads the day she has to move house. Oodles and bundles of swatches of cloth pour out of every spare drawer. The cloths then seem to speak and decide themselves what they should be made into…and together with a team of fabulously skilled pattern cutters designs just seem to develop.

Her philosophy is simple….investing in one or two good pieces, quality items, is a far cleverer way to jazz up an existing wardrobe, then a mass spend at a discount store.

She set out with the rose… to create a brand of ladies’ clothing which can be versatile (to be worn to the office or the dreaded parent teacher evening) and which can stand the test of time, not only because of its sheer quality of make but also because of the clever ingredients of which it is made and its attention to detail.
