the rose... is a very British label based in West Sussex.

the whole ethos behind the label is to create timelessly elegant, quirky but classic and chic pieces to add to wardrobes which will work in both the urban country or the rural town.

Aimed at offering versatility, pieces that will work harder in terms of cost per wear, not just because of affordability but thinking of our environment and not filling landsites with cheap impulse purchases...

Think town meets country...

After an early start in the law, Madeleine ran her own designer boutiques in the City of London for 17 years before she sold her company to devote more time to the rose… and her family and to really enjoy life. Having been a buyer and designer for so many years Madeleine began to see a huge gap in the market for smart but chic and well made clothes for the busy professional woman who had a life beyond the City and often struggles to know what to wear when in the country. Something that could possibly straddle both lives….think Chelsea and the Cotswolds, town meets country.

the rose… was born in 2008 and is run from her chaotic (never look beneath skirting boards is the new motto..) farm in West Sussex filled with 4 boys (married to one), 3 labradors, 2 horses and 2 cats.

Ably run and organised by two NOW three of the chattiest birds in West Sussex....we have Mads on the design and production, Kay on the sales and marketing and most recently Sally who just keeps us all organised....mix in a bottle (or two) of Pinot Grigio and you have a wonderful cocktail of fun and mischief...5 boys and  2 girls under 14 between us, school fees a constant worry, we mean business...
